KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL: THE DISH ON CELEBRITY DINING: CARSON DALY

How crazy is the host of Last Call with Carson Daly about grilling on the barbie? Let's just say where he goes, his Weber goes

LOS ANGELES -- My cooking passion

I love to barbecue. It's become an infatuation with me. I even used to barbecue on my balcony back when we were still doing the show in New York. I smuggled the same big Weber grill down here on the plane, disguised as a Christmas gift in three pieces, when we moved the show to Los Angeles. I barbecue everything.

My best dish

I have a great recipe for lamb on the barbecue. I do a nice citrus chicken that locks in the juices. And I've discovered that putting a little hickory smoke sauce in the ground beef before you make the patties gives it an awesome flavour.

My lethal kitchen weapon

My Mom bought me this blender utensil, the Magic Bullet, that she saw on a TV infomercial. I think you're supposed to make margaritas with it, but I use it to make sauces. Don't tell my Mom.

My favourite TV chef

I don't really watch the Food Network. I prefer those barbecue-recipe championships they sometimes show on TV. It's always in Texas, with Texan guys with no teeth competing. It's crazy. They show them using a syringe to inject pork with flavouring. Rachael Ray isn't teaching me these things.

My last cooking disaster

I ran out of propane while giving a barbecue at my house not long ago. I had 20 people over and a lot of meat on the grill, and there's nothing more embarrassing. Now I have, like, 18 canisters of propane at home as backup. My house is basically a bomb at this point.

My new healthy habit

I used to eat a lot of hamburgers and hot dogs when I lived in New York, but since moving here it's been a lot more chicken and fish. You gotta keep it lean in L.A.
